“But as it is written, ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear has heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV.
Game. Set. Match. It’s over. We cannot possibly comprehend the plans of God.
While God’s plans are not always understood, we (those who walk by faith in the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ) are not left abandoned to our own ignorance. No, even though our minds cannot understand the plans that He has for us, there is another lens, another paradigm, another eye in which we can see through. The Holy Spirit. Like stepping through a looking glass mirror into a whole new world. A new kingdom.
“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things. Yes, the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:10 NKJV.
So, we set out on a journey through Hebrews 11 to search the deep things of God.
Read these next few lines out loud. Do it. Better yet, pick up a Bible and read Hebrews 11 out loud. You wont be disappointed. I promise. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Hear it out loud. There is something so powerful about reading the accounts of so many who walked by faith.
By faith Abel offered to God.
By faith Noah responded to a warning from God and moved with godly fear.
By faith Abraham obeyed.
By faith Sarah received strength to carry a child in old age.
By faith Abraham offered his son believing that God could do the impossible.
By faith these all lived and moved and breathed and died. They clung to their faith, even when it looked foolish and unpromising. They stepped out in faith even when it made sense to no one else. By faith they lived. By faith we live.
By faith we offer.
By faith we respond.
By faith we move.
By faith we obey.
By faith we are strengthened.
By faith we believe that God can do the impossible.
What things does God have prepared for those who love Him?
A life of faith. A journey into the great unknown. A trust that no matter happens, God will be with us. Even if we do not live long enough to see the promised land. We have the hope and assurance of a God who promises an eternal land heavenward when we die.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who are diligently seeking Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NKJV.
What God has prepared for those who love Him, is a journey, a faith adventure into His will for our lives. And we must take it. We must. If we desire to please God and walk by faith.
What step of faith is God asking you to take today, that might seem a little crazy to everyone else?
Whatever God has in store for us, it starts with faith in action.
