“Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”
Proverbs 10:12 NKJV
The word of the year is love. I wanted to learn about it and boy am I ever! Yes, i did want to learn about how great it is and how lovey dovey it can be, but I never anticipated just how hard love is.
So, maybe you haven’t noticed, but I have taken a three and a half month hiatus on my blogging and scriprure memory work. Not exactly how I imagined the year would go, but thankfully God never lets any season go to waste.
What I have learned is that love is hard work. Be it a relationship with family, friends, or even God…if it isn’t nurtured it can fade away. If it isn’t intentional the little things can add up to love or resentment.
Having a love covers all sins relationship is not accidental. It’s hard work. It is being intentional about about communication, an. Not letting things build up or stew.
Love that is patient, and kind, and isn’t rude or selfish in demanding it’s way with someone…that’s the kind of love that covers sin. That’s the kind of love That bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. That’s the kind of love that covers sin…but that kind of love is costly and hard work.
Just as Jesus died to cover our sins, he asks us to pick up our own crosses and do the hard, costly, and painful work of love. Love is the fulfillment of the law.
Yes, love can be rewarding, but love that covers sin can be painfully hard work…and yet so worth the sacrifice as it fulfills the law of God and fulfills our lives.
